The Issue

Swirls, Scratches & Dull Paint

Highway dust and frequent washing are a bad combination. Every time a dusty car in Panipat is wiped with a dry or dirty cloth, tiny scratches are added to the clear coat. Over time these build up into swirl marks — visible as a spider web of fine lines in sunlight — and the paint loses its gloss.

Paint correction removes these defects by carefully levelling the top of the clear coat with a machine polisher, abrasive compounds and polishing pads. It is skilled work, and when done properly it restores a clear, deep reflection to the paint.

Terms

Rubbing, Polishing and Buffing

Rubbing

In India, 'rubbing' usually means compounding — the aggressive first step that cuts out deeper swirls, scratches and oxidation.

Polishing

A finer polish follows to remove the haze left by compounding and bring back gloss.

Buffing

The final finishing pass. Careless buffing with a rotary machine leaves holograms, which look like rainbow trails in the sun. We use controlled techniques and check every panel under inspection lights.

Doing these steps in the right order, with the right pads, is what separates a good correction from paint that has been made worse.

Levels

How Much Correction?

Every car is different, so we inspect first and recommend the lightest level that will give a good result.

Single stage

One polishing step that removes light swirls, water spots and haze — about half of all defects.

Two stage

Cut plus finish, removing roughly 70–80% of defects including deeper wash marks.

Three stage

Heavy cut, medium polish and fine finish for neglected or oxidised paint — 90–95% defect removal.

Scratch removal

Scratches in the clear coat are levelled; deeper ones need touch-up.

Water spot removal

Hard-water marks etched into paint and glass are polished out.

Headlight restoration

Yellowed lenses are sanded, polished and sealed.

Safety First

Protecting Your Clear Coat

Clear coat is very thin, and some cars — especially those that have been repainted — have less than others. Before we polish, we measure paint thickness panel by panel with a gauge. If a panel is thin, we use lighter steps or leave it alone. This is the single most important thing that separates a professional studio from a roadside polisher.

We also do a small test spot before correcting the whole car, to find the gentlest pad and compound combination that removes the defects.

Process

Our Correction Workflow

Paint correction takes time. Here is how that time is used.

Wash & clay

A clean, decontaminated surface is essential.

Measure & inspect

Paint depth is checked and defects are mapped.

Test spot

The least aggressive effective method is chosen.

Correct

Panels are compounded and polished one at a time.

Protect

Finished paint is sealed with wax, sealant or ceramic coating.

Protect It

Keep the Finish Perfect

Correction removes defects; it does not stop new ones. To keep the paint looking corrected, switch to safe washing — pH-neutral shampoo, two buckets and clean microfibre. Better still, protect the paint with ceramic coating or front PPF.

If your car has dents or scratches through to the primer, our dent and paint service can repair them first.

Dark Cars

Dark Cars Need Extra Care

Black, dark grey and deep blue cars look stunning when the paint is perfect — and show every flaw when it is not. Swirl marks, buffer trails and water spots are far more visible on dark colours, which is why owners of these cars are often the first to ask for paint correction.

For dark cars we usually recommend a two-stage correction followed by ceramic coating. The cutting stage removes the visible swirls; the finishing stage refines the paint to a deep, wet-looking gloss; and the coating protects that finish from new wash marks.

White and silver cars hide swirls well, but they often suffer from oxidation, yellowing and embedded dirt. For these colours, decontamination and a single-stage polish can make a dramatic difference at a lower cost.

Whatever the colour, we show you a corrected test section before doing the whole car, so you can see the result you are paying for.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is car rubbing safe for my paint?

Yes, when done correctly. We measure paint thickness first and use only as much correction as needed.

Can deep scratches be polished out?

If the scratch is within the clear coat, usually yes. If it catches your fingernail, it may need touch-up or repainting.

How long does paint correction take?

Single stage takes four to six hours; two and three stage take one to two days.

Will the swirls come back?

Only if the car is washed badly. Safe washing and ceramic coating keep paint swirl-free.

Should I polish before selling my car?

A single or two-stage correction can noticeably improve how a used car looks to buyers.

Can paint correction fix bird-dropping marks?

Light etching from bird droppings can usually be polished out. Deep etching that has gone into the clear coat may only improve, not disappear completely.

Where are paint correction prices?

Prices for each stage are on our pricing page.
