The Problem
Why Your Paint Looks Dull
Stand next to your car on a sunny afternoon and look at the bonnet from an angle. If you see fine circular scratches spreading out from the reflection of the sun, those are swirl marks. Most of them come from washing: dirty cloths, automatic brushes and roadside cleaners in a hurry. Add water spots from hard water, bird-dropping etching and oxidation from years of sun, and the paint loses its depth.
Paint correction is the process of removing these defects by levelling the clear coat with a machine polisher. When it is done correctly, the paint becomes clear and reflective again — often better than the day the car left the showroom.

Rubbing, Polishing & Buffing
These words are used loosely in India, so here is what they mean in our studio.
Car rubbing (compounding)
Rubbing is the cutting stage. A more abrasive compound and pad remove deeper scratches, heavy swirls and oxidation by levelling a very thin layer of clear coat.
Car polishing
Polishing follows rubbing with a finer polish and softer pad. It removes the haze left by compounding and brings back gloss and clarity.
Buffing
Buffing is the final finishing pass. Done badly with a rotary machine, it leaves holograms — rainbow-like trails in the paint. We use dual-action and controlled rotary techniques, checked under inspection lights, to avoid this.

Levels
Single, Two or Three Stage
We match the level of correction to your paint, not the other way round. A free assessment comes first.
Single-stage polish
Removes light swirls, water spots and haze — around 50–60% of defects. Ideal for newer cars and before ceramic coating.
Two-stage correction
A cutting step plus a finishing step, removing around 70–80% of defects including deeper wash marks.
Three-stage correction
Heavy cut, medium polish and finishing pass for neglected paint — removing around 90–95% of defects.
Scratch removal
Scratches that have not gone through the clear coat can usually be polished out. Deeper ones need touch-up or dent & paint.
Oxidation removal
Faded, chalky paint on older cars is brought back to colour.
Headlight restoration
Yellow headlights are wet-sanded, polished and UV-sealed.

Safety
We Measure Before We Polish
Clear coat is thin — often only a little more than the thickness of a sheet of paper. Every time paint is machine polished, a tiny amount is removed. That is why we measure paint thickness with a gauge on every panel before we start. Thin areas, repainted panels and edges are treated with lighter steps or avoided completely.
This is also why we do not recommend heavy rubbing every few months. Once the paint has been corrected, the best thing you can do is protect it, so it does not get swirled again.

A proper paint correction can take from half a day to two days. This is how the time is spent.
Wash & decontaminate
Clay bar and iron remover give us a clean surface to work on.
Inspect & measure
Defects are mapped under lights and paint depth is measured.
Test spot
We try a pad and polish on a small area to find the least aggressive combination that works.
Correct panel by panel
Each panel is compounded and polished, checked and repeated where needed.
Protect
The corrected paint is sealed with wax, sealant or ceramic coating.
Who Needs It
Is Paint Correction Right for You?
Paint correction makes sense if your car has visible swirl marks in sunlight, if it looks dull even after a wash, if you are about to apply ceramic coating or PPF, or if you are preparing an older car for sale. It is also popular with owners of black, dark blue and dark grey cars, where every swirl shows.
If your car has deep scratches that have gone through to the primer, or dents, polishing alone will not fix them. In that case our dent and paint service handles the repair, and we polish the area afterwards so it blends with the rest of the car.

Does car rubbing damage the paint?
Done carelessly, yes. Done properly, it removes only what is needed. We measure paint thickness first and use the least aggressive method that works.
Can all scratches be removed?

How long does polishing last?
